People joke about the name Thousand Oaks, asking whether anyone actually tallied the real number in the city. My answer isn’t about the number, but the magnificence. Many pre-date the founding of the United States.
They are tricky to photograph, mainly because most are in settings where the backgrounds are cluttered with buildings, cars etc. This tree, which is starting to grow sideways, afforded a pretty clean background. I took advantage of the small window of time when the grass is green to capture this image, which you can find in the Scenics/Landscapes gallery.
